Bit of a blast from the past. I dug up one of my old Call of Duty: United Offensive multi-player recordings and tossed it up on YouTube. Unfortunately, back in 2006 when this was recorded I was converting everything into MPEG2 and storing it on a video DVD. So the resolution and clarity leave a bit to be desired.

This map is the one that I spent a few months working on back in 2006. It's called Tuchola Forest 1945 and was loosely based on the Russian offensive back through Poland as they headed towards Berlin. Not historically accurate, but I needed a time period that fit the vehicles and weapons used, and I needed something snowy and forest-like.

This particular match took place on the |ax| anarchic servers and features "Base Assault" gameplay. The goal of Base Assault is to first break down the walls of (3) enemy bunkers then plant bombs in the basement. Once the bomb has been planted, it has to be defended long enough to explode. Back in the CoD:UO glory days, this was a very popular game type, although it could lead to long drawn-out matches if neither side could manage to blow up the 3rd bunker.

Some server admins would also have settings configured that could result in longer matches, such as no countdown timer or long respawn times or long bomb timers. The |ax| server in particular allowed this match to proceed for over 75 minutes before one side managed to finally succeed. Most servers that I was part of would use a 30 or 40 minute timer, if nobody managed to win by that point the server would move onto the next map.

This match had already been going for 30 minutes when I finally joined. It has been split up into 7 parts due to YouTube limitations.
