The human caravan arrived approximately on-time, entering the map on the 13th of Hematite in early summer.  Three more migrants have arrived from the mountain homes.  Work has started on the cistern and we will pump water from the stream in order to fill it before sealing it back off.

24th Hematite - Udil Siguningul has given birth to a boy, we now have three children in the fort.

30th Hematite - Finished trading with the human caravan.  We did not produce enough trade goods to enable us to purchase the bins full of cloth that they brought.  For next year, we will need to increase production of high value goods.

13th Malachite - Surface farms for Prickle Berries, Rat Weed and Rope Reeds have been started.

1st Limestone - Start of Autumn in the fortress.  Drink stocks are now at 923 units, with 924 prepared meals.  The dwarven caravan should arrive in about two weeks and we are in mostly good shape.  The glassworks have been creating large serrated green glass discs from sand and charcoal, the legendary stonecrafter has been turning out stone trinkets at a good clip, and we have a handful of mechanisms to trade.

Dedicated or very high skill dwarves: (2) engravers, (3) miners, (1) stonecrafter, (2) farmers, (1) cook, (1) brewer, (2) masons. The rest of the dwarves are generalists, haulers, or fill-ins on various tasks.  Most of the dwarves are content, but a lot of them are starting to want their own assigned bedrooms.

One female from each species of bird (turkey hen, goose, peahen) are locked away behind closed doors in hopes that the eggs will hatch.

7th Limestone - 'Broker' Kolbavast, the expedition leader and broker has entered a strange mood and has claimed a carpenter workshop.  Hopefully, he finishes before the caravan arrives in about a week!  (Note: Fun bug - if your expedition leader is in a strange mood, the diplomat will turn around and leave the map immediately.  You will get the "left unhappy" message when this happens.)

11th Limestone - Traders have arrived at the depot and have started to unload goods.

12th Limestone - Kolbavast has finished his strange mood and produced an artifact armor stand.

13th Limestone - Trading went very well, we purchased about 30k worth of goods in exchange for 45k worth of goods.  The trader was ecstatic with the trade.

21st Moonstone - Kol Dodokmedtob gives birth to a girl during the winter.  This was followed by a 2nd birth by 'Cook' Eddudalath on the 22nd Moonstone.  The fortress now has five babies to look after.

Note: Babies are apparently very quick to end up with cave adaption.  As soon as their mothers brought them to the surface or to a sunlit area, I ended up with small puddles of vomit that need to be cleaned up.

21st Opal - I had a bit of surprise with a sudden announcement.

Apparently, 'Brewer' Sandardlabor (Lorbamerith) had noble relatives in Unionsstake, who have passed away.  That means I now have a noble with demands to deal with, along with his wife ('Cook' Eddudalath) the consort of the baron.

And of course, his lordship wants lodgings, a tomb, and other goodies already.

I had already been starting to prepare noble quarters, they are only smoothed and not yet engraved, and I have not produced cabinets, armor / weapon stands of masterwork quality, but I do have some exceptional quality items that can be used for the time being.  The tomb will probably be the 3x3 room to the east on the same level.

And because this is Dwarf Fortress and the RNG (random number god, all hail the RNG!) is malicious, a second dwarf has inherited a barony.

Firing up Legend Viewer and looking at the history of the world prior to year 500 reveals the following for those two nobles.

But since I have [REVEAL_ALL_HISTORY:0] and [CULL_HISTORICAL_FIGURES:1] in my world generation parameters, I won't get full details.  My suspicion is that something is attacking Unionstake and Groovedbolt, but I would need to go there in adventurer mode to uncover more details.
