3rd of Granite, 502 - Spring has arrived and along with it the expectation of elves.  The diplomat snuck onto the map and issued a warning to the barroness Eddudalath.  Probably because we have been cutting down all of the trees inside and outside of the courtyard to keep them from attacking us.

The elven caravan should be along shortly... but the two barrons are now happy with their quarters.  Fortunately, the two of them are married which means that a single bedroom and dining room sufficed for both of them.  I only had to construct separate tombs and offices.

11th Granite - Elven caravan has entered our borders.  We seized all of their goods (mostly by accident because I deconstructed the trade depot before they packed up to leave).

9th Felsite - Late-spring and fortress wealth continues to grow.  The human caravan is due in about 4-5 weeks (13th of Hematite last year).

12th Hematite - Human caravan has entered our borders in the summer of 502.

22nd Hematite - Traded with the humans and gave them a large profit of 41%.  We could probably have given them less profit, but we were swimming in glass discs and spiked wooden balls.  Also unloaded a lot of the wooden elven junk that we got back in the spring.

One of the new things in DF2014 is that the diplomats sometimes carry news.

1st Limestone - Autumn has arrived.  We are in the later stages of constructing forty-five 2x2 bedrooms, each with a bed and cabinet.  Now that we have room for more beards, we will send word to the mountainhome to send us a few more migrants.  The stocks screen is getting a little crazy with the amount of drink and prepared meals that we have.

The dwarven caravan should be here in about ten days.  Now is the time to make sure that all salable goods are in stockpiles near the depot as well as making any last minute items.  Since I have a stockpile by the depot designed for non-metallic clothing, this is a good time to do "cleanowned scattered x" in DFHack, which will confiscate all worn clothing and make it eligible to be put into a stockpile instead of being scattered around the fort.

Note to self: After using the "cleanowned" command, all of the old socks end up in the garbage dump zone location.  They will need to be reclaimed with (d)(b)(c) before being hauled to the Trade Depot.

12th Limestone - Dwarven caravan has entered our borders.

24th Limestone - The dwarven diplomat has raised our hamlet to an official colony and Broker Kolbavast will become a barron.

We also get a news update and a lot of it is bad news, Wickedness of Thieves has conquered a lot of outposts / sites.

It explains what happened in Unionsstake and Groovedbolt that resulted in two of my dwarves becoming nobles around the 21st Opal 501.  Given the dire news, it is possible that we are the last remaining dwarves of Tool of Waxes.  Although there is news of refugees mixed in with all of the other announcements.

We were able to setup a trade agreement for the coming year.  If you recall, the dwarven diplomat left without meeting the expedition leader due to a strange mood.

Of course, with all the bad news from home for the last two years, I'm not sure what we'll actually get in terms of a caravan next year.  Purchased about 110k of merchandise with a profit to the caravan of about 35-40k.

5th Timber - New migrants have arrived and labors have been sorted out.  Also, the new baron is sorted out with his office, throne room, tomb and bedroom.

1st Moonstone - Winter has arrived.  The exterior walls are now 2 levels high around the perimeter along with a 2-wide or 3-wide dry moat in most places.  The walls were built with stone block and should be very difficult for anything to climb them.

End of year stocks report.  Spring will come soon as well as the elves.
