20th Granite - 'Crafter Nish' Erushdakon is now haunting the fort.  Some part of his mangled body must have ended up in a refuse pile instead of a coffin.  He seems to like pestering our walled in werepanda, Lokum Kalankol.  Hopefully that keeps him busy while I engrave and place a slab.

Well this is a bit strange, one of the dwarves is robbing the grave of 'Crafter Nish', taking his parts (teeth) out of the casket and taking them to the surface refuse pile.  Another dwarf is carrying the bits back to the tomb.  Then immediately turns around and carries it back to the refuse pile.  The only way to seemingly stop it is to catch them in the act of carrying it and then forbid it when they are in the tombs area.

I threw down (3) slabs because when I scrolled through the entire list, I found not only 'Crafter Nish' but also the original werepanda and another dwarf that possibly never got buried (or not completely).

The third slab is for Degel Eggutatir Stigil Odur - who probably died while in werepanda form.  It says that he died to the ghost of Crafter Nish, but that's not true because the ghost of Crafter Nish did not appear until 602.

21st Slate - Migrants have arrived, despite the danger.  Six adult dwarves.

25th Slate - Another werepanda attack - Osnun Amxuosplu.  Hopefully we can get the bridge up in time.  Stukos Erlinrisen, one of the new migrants is outside, but close to the gates.

Ah, Osnun transformed back into a goblin almost right away.  Good news for Stukos.  Well, the fort is sealed back up and only a single donkey foal is outside.  We'll drop the bridge again and see if we can't get it back inside.

9th Hematite - Started to work on the individual 2x2 bedrooms with doors in the corners between rooms.  This is a high density design that is friendly to pathfinding.  Each room will be smoothed and outfitted with at least a bed and cabinet.  There are rooms for 48 dwarves per level and I am doing three levels.

Depending on how fast the engraver works at smoothing the stone and how urgent the need is, the bedrooms will likely also be engraved and not just smoothed.

25th Hematite - A few more migrants trickle in.  We now have a leatherworker churning out leather tunics, cloaks, trousers, shoes and bags until he runs out of leather.  Hopefully the caravan in autumn brings more.

1st Limestone - Autumn has arrived.  There are 22 dwarves plus one dwarf/werepanda (who spends all his time pulling the lever).  Other then the werepanda, Lokum, the mood of the fort is pretty good.  There are more cage traps up along the entrance way and better weapon traps are planned.  We have about 600 drinks and 1000 prepared meals.

10th Timber - 23 dwarves, plus Lokum who is "berserk" in werepanda form again.  Surface walls are just about to the "good enough" phase where the ground is 2Z below the top of the stone block wall in that section.

The large covered box on the NE corner of the fort is a dining hall and the area underneath it will be channeled out, as deep as I can go, for a skylit area.

7th Moonstone - There werepanda Usbu Ngomudat has come!

Eeep, we did not detect it until it had already crossed the bridge over the moat and entered the fortress.  With luck, those cage traps will catch it - otherwise it's about to get bloody.

(This is evidence that sneaking is much more effective in DF2014 and that chained animals to act as sentries are far more important.)

And of course it is trap-avoid... so this is going to be a bloodbath.

8th Moonstone - The werepanda turns back into a goblin.  We have at least four dead with 6-8 wounded including 'Doc' Alath.  So a new chief medical dwarf (CMD) has been appointed, Mason Limul Rigothosor.  All workshop repeat jobs have been suspended.

The list of the dead grows...
  1. Miner Ducim Lesastber
  2. child Urdim Vabokbakust
  3. Asen Sarekhorast
  4. Dobar Likotadek
  5. Ushrir Oltaruz
The werepanda/goblin has bled out and died.

10th Moonstone - Five of the wounded have been brought to the hospital so far.  'Doc' Limul hates giving food and water to patients, but she was about the only able-bodied dwarf who could be drafted as the CMD.

The list of able-bodied dwarves:
  1. 'Hunter' Domas Ingizletmos
  2. 'Doc' Limul Rigothosor
  3. 'Graver' Stukos Erlinrisen
  4. 'Farmer' Muthkat Regmeng
  5. Inod Koganuthar
  6. Olin Muzisherith
  7. Avus Kutambomrek
  8. Urvad Duthnuratir
Looks like seven wounded dwarves now in the hospital.

(A peek at Dwarf Therapist data indicates that the disaster is not over because three dwarves are infected.)

22nd Moonstone - The wounded have been sealed off behind walls in the hospital and the other suspected werepanda has been walled off in a 1x1 cell using a lever on repeat.

4th Opal - Four dwarves have transformed into werepandas.  Two got locked away in 1x1 cells, the other two were in the hospital area.

Monom Arzesstukos (werepanda) bled to death, the other werepanda, Meng Lisidlibash, is resting due to injuries sustained in dwarf form.

After transforming back, Meng is healed up completely.  We will use the "pull the lever" trick to make Meng go into a jail cell before the next moon phase.  The surviving dwarves who fought Meng or Monom in the hospital will be walled up on their beds.  According to the combat logs, that would be Ustuth Rithar (mechanic).

18th Opal - mid-winter and I think all the dwarves are buried, or else slabs have been engraved.  Waiting to see who changes into a werepanda in the next moon phase.  The most-unhappy dwarf of the moment is the child, Dakost Zimdastot who lost a sibling and a father.

Four little werepandas, all in 1x1 cells...

And that wraps up the year, with only twelve surviving dwarves from a high of twenty-two.  Seven were killed and three were turned into werepandas.  The good news is that the individual engraved bedrooms are coming along and should be ready by the end of spring.
