1st Granite - Twelve dwarves and four werepandas alive, and twenty-eight deaths over the last two years.  Our fortress has quite the reputation now as a dangerous place.

The werepandas are currently isolated in 1x1 cells.

The 2x2 bedrooms are coming along nicely, eight of them have been fully engraved and filled with a bed plus either a cabinet or coffer.  Six more bedrooms are being engraved and should be ready by the end of Granite 603.  That will help a lot with the mood of the survivors as they sleep in their "own fantastic bedroom".

22nd Granite - Migrants arrive.  Three lunatics to join the asylum.

I've identified two couples during bedroom assignments.  Avuz Kutambomrek is married to Monom, one of the werepandas.  As for 'Miner' Olin, her husband, Ducim, has been dead for a while.

The bedrooms are engraved and ready for doors / furniture.  Eighteen bedrooms are fully ready and the other ten need doors and furniture.  The southern twenty rooms will be smoothed over the next month by the engravers.

1st Hematite - Start of summer and things are starting to settle down into a routine.  The gates are locked and the dwarves are working on making metal crossbows, bolts, leather armor and shields, plus carpentry, engraving, mining and construction.

A minecart-driven QSP (quantum stockpile) has been setup by the main staircase to hold all empty wooden containers (buckets, bins, barrels, minecarts, wheelbarrows) or cloth / leather / silk bags.  That will declutter a lot of the fort and put the containers within easy reach of just about every industry that needs them.

The hospital needs more soap and thread.  Powder for casts will have to be purchased off of the caravan in the autumn.  Note that the defaults for a hospital zone are about 1/2 or 1/3 the numbers shown here, I have bumped up the values a lot to make sure there is a good stockpile.

Shopping list for the fall caravan:

  • Lye
  • Gypsum Powder
  • Thread, Yarn, Silk
  • Metal bars (copper, iron, steel, bronze)
  • Leather bins
  • Cloth bins
  • Seeds (pigtail, cave wheat, sweet pod), Rock Nuts
  • Chickens, ducks, guineafowl

28th Malachite - Migrants have arrived.  Only three.

20th Limestone - Alath Thusestushat, one of the werepandas, has gone stark raving mad.  So, will she starve/dehydrate before switching back to a werepanda and resetting?

12th Sandstone - Interesting, when Alath changed back from being a werepanda, she went right back to babbling.  The question now will be whether she starves/dehydrates before the next moon cycle.  Or ever.

13th Sandstone - A single migrant has arrived.

27th Sandstone - Sealed fort up after caravan left.  Working on marksdwarf training ranges over the entrance.  The idea being that as the marksdwarves are training, they will also be keeping a watch for anything that crosses the bridge.

Made it to the end of the year with no more deaths.  So this is the first year that we did not get visited by a werepanda making it inside the fort.  There was one strange combat report of a werepanda battling a bear at the edge of the map, but there was no big announcement that "so-and-so has come".
